Looking for IP Camera software

The recording software for the cameras we use is pretty lousy. It is what came with the D-Link cameras we use.

I am searching around for other software, but on the off chance that someone reading this has found something goo I would love to hear about it.

Apart from just googling, I have been digging through the following sites: http://www.video-home-surveillance.com/ & http://www.ipcamerareports.com

I have tried http://www.zoneminder.com/, but I would really like something Windows based and more intuitive. If I am out of town and something happens then I want to be able to explain how the system works easily over the phone. Linux and ZoneMinder are not the way to go on that.

As we try out more software I will report back here.

Please do report back. We’re going to need cameras in the not too distance future at GCC. It’s always helpful when someone else does all the leg work ;-)

Looks like Milestone is giving a free single user license to their XProtect software here: http://www.milestonesys.com/downloads/free_xprotect_license

I just purchased a Canon VB-C300 from USA Security Systems Technology for around $795 with the clear dome and I was looking for some software from the open source community, but that is all I can find for now. Hope it suits your needs.

I’m not sure about the software being available to me since I won’t be using it for business use. The camera I want to use it with is for home surveillance but I’m going to try!

Milestone is the industry leader in software. I have used their software with D-Link cameras and it works great!
